It's not a serious game.

And sometimes that is the most deadly trap of them all.

I have to say, this looks pretty fun.  How likely is it that I'll be added to the closed beta, if you had to guess?  Also, what's the ETA on actual release?

Pretty darn likely.

and Neonivek, you are certainly right.

I hope no one minds me reviving this thread but it looks like the game is currently having an open house event until August 6th. Anyone can sign up and play without having been previously invited to the beta.

Unfortunately, the monetary system has gone from "fairly fair" to "pay to pwn", so beware of that.

Edit: I have been rectified.

I thought they just changed that in a recent patch?

Why couldn't I find this thread before?

Anyway, yes they did a rollback on all that monetization several days ago and the number of things you can buy with blings is even smaller than before.

This game is incredibly cool. My only complain for now is that Pete seems a bit overpowered for its cost and level.

Also, we should add each other ingame as friends. I'm LordFiddle :)

Yeah, the game is really fun but the balance is pretty bad.  Luckily they're fixing pete in the next update.

I'll revive this thread again, to say that I'm in the closed beta, and it is a fairly decent game so far.

The hack&slash part is classic Diablo-like. The action is fast-paced and good fun, most dungeon runs are shorter than 3 mins. I can play it for about an hour at a time before it gets a bit boring.

The "build your own castle" part is somewhat reminiscent of those browser based games (Ogame, Travian, and all their siblings), in that you get to upgrade a handful of buildings with exponentially increasing costs and build times, the 2 resources being gold and life essence (blue crystal). You even build small upgradeable mines in your dungeon to have some passive income. The one thing that differs is how detailed the defense management is. You get to build your dungeon from basic rooms - there's a large choice - and put monsters and traps in it, although there are many limitations on how close and how many they can be.

The most fun for me was when recently (2 days in) many players started storming my castle. I got to watch their replays and seeing them die is always satisfying, while seeing how they beat my challenge gives me ideas to improve my design and maybe even some tricks to beat other people's dungeons.

All in all the game feels very polished even in closed beta, it feels like a finished product already. The design is cartoony but it perfectly fits with the atmosphere.

The only thing I really dislike is the cash shop, you need to pay real money to reduce building times (remember, they increase exponentially). Also, at first you can build/upgrade only 1 thing at a time and you can get the upgrade to build two things easily with the little amount of cash shop currency they throw at you in the early quests, but more than that and you have to pay from your own pocket. I do understand that they need to get paid from their work but I'd love it if it didn't interfere with the gameplay (League of Legends does it very well in my opinion).

Ok, I know that people are sick of my whining so I'll keep this short and sweet.

I don't... like this game. It is kind of fun until you sort of learn the metagame and the metagame is as such "advancing through the game is your enemy"

Yet at the same time I KNOW that is the point of the game. Players are supposed to slow you down until you can build up the defenses to keep them at bay long enough to advance.

It still doesn't feel good when you see the ultimate dungeons that are unbeatable because a player used every heroic unit available (usually because they spent money).

At least to me... and that is all I'll really say on the "I don't like this game" front. If I had no fun with this game, i'd have nothing to say... but it did capture me for a week.

Actually I will say more

In terms of whether or not I recommend this game... I do recommend it. It is definately worth a shot. Sure I found it aggrivating, but I feel that is purely because of my own feelings and that the elements in the game rubbed me the wrong way. Yet those elements given to the average person, might see through it.

It is part diablo part Facebook game... In fact it would be: "What if you combined Farmville and Diablo", and for all those that appeals to... try it out.

Yea I do agree with you... I haven't been playing for long but it's pretty obvious that some dungeons should be higher rated than they are. And, quite often, player-made dungeons aren't very fun to play, because they are designed to kill you by attrition with specific defense patterns that are hard to cope with.

But sometimes you get fun dungeons too !

You can also ignore other players since they can only steal a bit and then you're protected for something like 12 hours, and move forward by repeating dungeons that aren't player-made... but it gets boring fast.

All in all it's clearly not something I'd play all day long but since I started recently I'll probably play some more for a week or two, a little every day and eventually stop playing as something else grabs my attention...

This is a really fun game. I went Archer, though I would've gone wizard if I could.
