Replaying retired adventurer

I retired an adventurer and I want to replay him.

For some reason he is not showing up in the character select screen of adventure mode. I've read that he is supposed to appear after human outsider but he isn't.
He is still alive in Legends mode, so I'm not sure why I can't use him.

Well then if you want to get to play as him go and get DFHack, make a new character, go to the town you retired him in, find him and use the adv-bodyswap command to play as him.

I've "resumed" allot of retired adventurers, and they've always been visible at the bottom of the race/culture select list.

there is a chance that he/she died?

first retired adventurer died by a cyclops half a season after retiring
