Do Gloves of Power, Seven League Boots, etc. do anything?

So occasionally I find things like Gloves of Power, Seven League Boots, and x of Armok. Do any of these have properties beyond just the armor? I've been unable to tell.

Sorry if this has been asked before, a search turned up nothing.

I believe, they simpily Cover more, or they are experamental.

They are all produced through either an expedition or by a mood.

They are actually slightly worse then the standard boots, because their [LAYER_PERMIT] setting won't allow them to go over mail boots.

Yeah, the whole allowing fewer layers thing made me think, "huh, there must be SOMETHING about these I'm missing..."

Well there is an Armok's set of armor which gives a bonus to dorf speed if you got all the items equiped. But they should be disabled in the game. Also check material - item acnnot give you any bonus, but material it is made of can. So you won't be able to produce a steel spear which gives you a bonus to hitting enemies, but you can make one from special material, if it is in the RAWs. Also items can have syndrome ON them whichgives you a bonus.

The syndromes that the items themselves have are defined in a special INORGANIC, note.

(I made the script that allows these)

But as i understand they spam interactions a lot. With big army might kill your FPS.

You should be able to adjust the Layer_permit numbers to match normal armor stuff if you want. They likely never got changed when Meph set the armor sizes to allow the padded, mail, normal to be worn together.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing some more specialty armors/weapons with unique syndromes added at some point. But they probably shouldn't be something you can just cover your dwarves in from the start.

Once Meph updates to r4, the FPS hit will be negligible.

R4 will take a long time. Changing syntax in the mod raws, changing all the scripts, waiting for updates from other authors, like warmist or falconne...

There actually isn't any syntax change (that I know of) in the raws outside of itemsyndrome's no longer needing an END time.
