Exotic food from other races
« on: November 09, 2013, 08:59:54 am »

Kind of a simple suggestion to make dorf diet more interesting. I always felt like caravans from other races should bring more exotic stuff that dwarves can't replicate.

Give elves and humans some high quality food dorfen cuisine can't comprehend.

- Processed meat (such as sausages) - more expensive meat that can be mixed in food or eaten as is.
- Spice - very expensive powder used as cooking ingreidient
- Fruits - apples, pears, cherries. Dwarves can't conceive idea of using trees for anything that doesn't involve axes, so they can't grow them. Make good ingridients, raw food and base for booze.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

I believe further variety in the types of processed foods to make (or import) is very much planned, as with most things no timeline though.

We already have valley herb which fits your description of "Spice", and I'd assume more will come at some point when cooking gets redone.

Fruit is coming next version, both for ingredients, raw eating and booze afaik.

Weah, I've some ideas for specific foods*:
Goblins: some spices only growing in Evil aeras ala sliver barb**.
Elves: Elven Wine, prepared from fruits from a tree only them can grow in their retreats**.
Humans:They're not restricted to forrests (as the elves) nor to evil areas (as the goblins); a saffron-like substance seem to be a good idea.

----
*Not involving Tolkien's estate (thus no lembas, honey-bread or cram)
**These beings are not enough evolved to have prepared dishes going beyond the meat taken from an alive sentient being these savage beasts have sacrified to their demons.
***For "Elven bread" cf. *.

dorf
dorfern
Your spelling is almost perfect other than that. Is this some sort of meme I don't know?
