A few questions 10ebbor10:
  • Are all of the things you've listed so far ideas, or are there some technologies?
  • If they are all ideas, how would we go about getting farms (if we don't start off with them or something)?
  • For that matter, what abilities do we start off with (if any)?
  • Is there a limit to how many ideas we can combine to form a tech, or can we combine as many ideas as makes sense?
1) They are all ideas (Though some might need to adjusted). However some ideas are directly related to technologies. Having the farming tech immediatly allows you to build farms. (Not having any food gathering tech would be quite interesting, but should be possible). There are also some generic buildings.
2) Construction mechanics will be revealed soon. Still working on it.
3) You get some generics. In fact, I suppose you can do anything without needing the tech. Generic's suck though.
4) You can combine anything that makes sense, and that doesn't. (Results will be similair, or spectacular failures)

Both. Wells are often to far between to form an effective defense line. They're outflanked easily.

On a side note; how about the following addition to the tech system. You still research (using points, because those are easy to manage) individual inventions/technologies, and unlock the ideas by researching or using related technologies and ideas.

Not sure if I'm going to do it, as it might make ideas to hard to get by.

That would put tons of stress and time drain on the GM. Tread lightly there If I were to advise you.

Something like that could work.

Maybe call them "development points," no that sounds like social/infrastructure development. Anyways, these sound more like finding ways to put these general technologies together in better ways--new kinds of tanks/cars/phones or whatever, or putting a telephone and a car together to make a phone, or figuring out how to ride a horse in full plate armor, or stuff. The "Innovations" would be getting these technologies/ideas.
Maybe not your idea exactly, but it kinda makess ense to me.

Usually it would devolve into either:

a: GM you decide what I can research next
b: GM Why fire and levers do not led to firearms?
c: Okay so with knowledge of two languages I should introduce doublespeak! *GM duly rolls D100*

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I'll try to get it finished tomorrow/today.

For the tech system, I currently have 2 semi viable solutions:

-Just buy both ideas and inventions with science points.

-Only buy inventions with science points. Each invention can include one notresearched idea, which will then be unlocked.

I think I'm going for 1 though.

Anyway, if anyone has suggestions for schools of magic or other magical ideas, that would be nice. Techs are appreciated too, but that list is more filled out.

Short History and Description:
Primitive nation of merchants whalers, travelers, explorers, they live on a cold barren northern shore of a continent, for ages they were surviving hunting on whales and other marine mammals until one shaman discovered a way to control whales using magic. Not only that multiplied quantity of meat, fat, bones, skins and various other useful stuff from whales, but it also provided a way to tow their primitive boats over large distances that soon was used for trade and sometimes raiding
Unfortunately that came not without a price, Whala became dependent on their whales and knowledge about hunting and gathering that feed their grandparents was lost... 

Later specialists started to appear, some families were expert whalebreeders, some carved bones and never did anything else, some constructed houses out of snow or whales , some became merchants and some warriors

Capital:
Wicon  [Population: 5]
       - Minor Defenses (Located on an island near the shore separated by narrow, 50m straight)

Villages:
3*Whale breeders
1*Port\marketplace
1*Barracks

Resources:
    -10/20 food
    -20/30 Construction material
    -10 Mana
    -0/2 innovation points:
Army:
       -Sea raiders (basically spearmen with boats towed by whales)
       -Spearmen

Science and Magic
       - Livestock
       - Magical Husbandry
       - Travel by sea
       - Domesticated whales ( Livestock+Magical Husbandry+Travel by sea)
       - Division of Labor
