Iversity - The Future of Storytelling
« on: October 26, 2013, 04:34:36 am »

I have found an interesting project organized by several universities on reddit.
This specific project is organized by the University of Potsdam and is a eight week introductory course to the art of writing, from storytelling to writing techniques.
I've completed the first lesson yesterday and it was really interesting. The course is in English even though the University is located in Germany because it is available worldwide.
You don't have to pay a penny, the course if free of charge.

Referal link:

Non-referal link:

There are several other courses available like design, marketing, mathematic thought processes, physics courses or web-development, though I don't know if they are available in English, if not then they are most likely only availabe in German.

Just take a look, free education provided by universities is always a good and interesting thing.

edit: fixed the links
edit 2: added a non-referal linkv and a courses overview

I think you're probably not a bot, but you chose a really bad time to have this as your second post, since the spambots have mobilized on this subforum.

Dear Urist McHunter,

I thought it would be a good idea to let you hunt done some animals. Guess you shouldn't have angered that boar. Fortress Population is now down to 6.

-Your expedition leader

Dear Urist McTheOtherOnes,

why did you try to gang up on that alligator without weapons? Fortress Population down to: 4
And you, yes you the remaining minder, why did you dodge this badger only to drown in the river? Population: 3

-Your soon not anymore expedition leader

Edit: Waaaitt ... That looks like a referral link..

What's a referral link?

(And I don't think a bot would bother with including the "edit" bit...)

I am not a bot, that is true yes. Yes it is a referal link, there is a so called Ambassador Program beside the normal course to promote the new program. Though I don`t think I will draw any benefits of it, the only perks are a 50€ voucher for Amazon if I manage to enrol 50 people over the link. And if i get to the top 10 it has some other benefits but It still doubt I will get there.

I just think it is a neat thing and if you don`t want to use the referal link, you can just click on Courses on the website and set your course there, then it no longer refers to me. Doesn`t matter to me in the end as long as some people learn something.

And I would have shared the course even if there would be no potential benefits at all anyway just because I like the thought of free of charge education.

I signed up for this a few weeks ago, and it just started. The content is very solid, and definitely going to be a boom for my NaNoNovel.

Anyways, although I don't mind referal links a lot, it's generally considered polite on forums I frequent to at least point out that it is a reflink and provide the normal one, too. Anything less than that and it definitely seems like you are only posting for the refs.

I've changed the opening post according to your suggestion. This is the first time that I ever used something like a referal link, so sorry for making the impression that I only linked it for the referals because that is definitely not the case.

Yeah, thanks for sharing! I was actually going to post about it when I saw your thread. It's definitely a really cool thing going on here.
