If you look through my old posts you can find a way of building a machine to murder babies while providing your dwarfs with a refreshing bath and valuable swimming training all at the same time.

It is very dwarfy but also cruel.

to prevent unhappiness, you must leave NO witnesses. designate a room with a drawbridge in it that's completely sealed except for a door. burrow one child at a time into the drawbridge room and lock the door.

pull the bridge lever and then pull it again. the child should be atom smashed, leaving no trace of a corpse. once the child goes missing, you can engrave a slab so he/she is properly memorialised.

CRUEL? This is not cruel. Cruelty is leaving the babies alive long enough for them to grow up. They then have to live as useless peasants, doomed to serve their entire adult life in the military, until they die horribly in a fight with the HFS. Failing that, simply being forced to live and work in the hellhole that every fortress slowly degrades into.

Wouldn't you feel bad, knowing you could have stopped it? Consider this not as baby slaughter, but as mass mercy killings.

That's probably how the goblins looks at it when they siege your fortress and steal the children, plus the goblins are probably much better at child raising, considering how this thread exists...
