A few issues (Harder Mining toggle error) with V.4b
« on: October 25, 2013, 03:33:14 pm »

I'm about to venture into Masterwork for the first time, so keep that in mind.

I want to ease into the vast differences a little more gradually and there are a few settings I would like to disable until I'm more familiar with Masterwork. Most notably, the Cults, Possessions, and Diseases. Both are listed as optional changes but I've looked and looked through the settings and see nothing that seems to refer to these features. I've guessed that maybe Secret !FUN! or Fear the Night may include these, but I don't know for sure.

When I toggle "Harder Mining" an error box pops up and reads: ReadFile error. Cannot find file: MasterworkDwarfFortress\Ironhand\raw\objects\inorganic_zwarpstone.txt
Prior to changing any settings, I had told it to use the Ironhand graphic set. I didn't move or change anything manually. I just extracted the rar file and let it keep it's directory structure. Looking in to this, I see that the requested path does not exist and that the "graphics" path should be in between MasterworkDwarfFortress and Ironhand for it to find the file. For now I'll make a copy of Ironhand and move it to the Settings.exe path and hope nothing gets screwy. Let me know if there is a better way to deal with this.

I see a Show All in the bottom right corner, but I can't see it doing anything.. What's that all about? And what happens if you toggle Simple Tress and More Tree Types? They'd seem to be mutually exclusive?

Lastly, I'm a little on the fence on my feeling of guns existing in DF. I see I can disable the related workshop, but I assume that means I simply can't make them myself, they'll still exist and be usable otherwise. Is there a way to disable them easily? If not, no big deal I'll get used to them.

Windows 7
MW V.4b
DF 0.34.11

Ok, lets see:

Correct.

Thats not a problem, the setting still works, the popup can be ignored. I'll fix that in the next release.

If you click on the category names in the bottom (like Metalworking and Smithing and Workshops and Graphics, etc) you can hide/show the corresponding box with the buttons.

They are not mutually exclusive. One removes redundant vanilla trees, the other adds other trees. no problem there.

Its only muskets and flint-lock pistols. Correct, the button only disables the workshop, but you really dont see guns that often in the game. Humans, Gnomes and Automatons have access to them, thats about it.

I have one last question please, is there a simple way to update savegames to a different graphics tileset? I wanted to check out some of the other ones, but I'm not sure how to do it. Until now I've used the Lazy Newb Pack which can update savegames automatically. I change it through the settings.exe, but the graphics get really screwy when I load the save game.

There is no easy way to do it. Tilesets cahnge a lot of things in all the files. Well you might open settings exe and change tileset and then make EXACTLY same changes like you did before (then you cahnge tilesets they reset - so make it exactly the same) and then replace RAW from main folder into save folder. But it can be and most likely will be glitchy. If you want to see different tilesets - just change them and generate a new world (5 years old) and check it, it's faster that replacing everything:)
