This is fucked up. Really REALLY REALLY fucked up
But it is my favourite series and one of my favourite publishers...so SE can eff me up and have my man babies.

...
..
.

Then again I hate brand loyalty so I might mail my intestinal leavings to the SE headquarters to balance out my hypocrisy.

So has bank robbery and so has eradicating life-threatening diseases. Precedence alone does not set morality or acceptableness. It was bad in those times too.
What's wrong with eradicating life-threatening diseases?

Well, that was an effective way of killing any and all interest I had in buying this game.

Thanks, squeenix.

It is a little annoying Jensen survived for me, if the trailer is anything to go by. Damnit, the whole point of that ending was that nobody would be left to control the message, not even Jensen. A "We're all fuckers, so fuck 'em all" ending. It's the ending that, to me, made the most sense given everything Jensen saw. Well maybe if we could delete the footage and all evidence of anybodies involvement but still not commit mass murder, that would of been a better ending...But aside from that.

What's wrong with eradicating life-threatening diseases?

My point was that it is a good thing, precedence and morality aren't particularly related aside from being able to say "Still a crappy thing to do" and "Still the right thing to do" :)

Jensen had a life to go back to :/

People aren't primarily motivated by abstract morality.  Jensen learned about the illuminati, what, a few days ago?  And he's not some fanatic, he's a highly paid corporate security guard.  No way he'd be willing to commit mass-murder/suicide to fuck over everyone, including himself and his boss.  Its unbelievable to the point of breaking suspension of disbelief.

Edit: that's what bothered me most about the reveal trailer, how Jensen was portrayed as this hero fighting to stop the illuminati and save lives.  He had a personal stake in the events of the original game.  That's why all Jensens, murderous or not, do the same basic thing.  Jensen always wants revenge for (SPOILERS) Megan's "death" and his own mutilation, he always wants to rescue Megan, and he always has a personal loyalty to Sarif even if he doesn't necessarily like the guy.  He wasn't a "hero", he was fighting for solid in-character reasons.

He had a life to go back to? I always thought Jensen was functionally depressed and borderline suicidal for most of the game, ever since the augmentation, only really surviving on instinct. Game starts, he realises Megan may be alive, gets some drive back, then finds out she is but also betrayed him after finding out the truth of his origins, which he himself didn't even know (it's unclear if he even realises the). And that his boss used him, also knowing this secret, creating his own personal super-soldier.

It's more the random employees he'd drag down to the sea with him that I find harder to accept. If it was just the himself, his boss, the illuminati guy and the ex-illuminati guy (names escape me)...

This was a couple days ago, but nobody posted it, so I thought you might like to know:

Square Enix has dropped the "Augment Your Preorder" Program!

Here's also the link to the awful touch-screen-oriented website I can't copy and paste from, where the official announcement is. In short, everyone who preorders gets all the preorder bonuses, and the game won't launch early for anyone. They say that they hoped this would cause less frustration that regional preorder bonuses, but they changed their minds after the overwhelming negative response. More accurately, they saw the negative response, waited about three weeks, and THEN canned the preorder program. But hey, I'll take what I can get!

@ending:
As far as I see it they went a similar way regarding HR's endings in MD as they did for the original's endings in IW. That is to say, canon is a mixture of all possibilities.

And everyone was pissed off by that back then, too, IIRC.
