Dream Land
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:20:45 am »

As the update comes closer, I have read something about dreams and dwarves. So I thought that it would be nice to add an entire new region to df. The Dream Land. Unreachable by common means, an adventurer would only be able to enter dream land by sleeping or by finding a special portal, which leads there. Dream Land should be made up of the desires of ALL inhabitants of the land. Furthermore there should be different regions in Dream Land, going from blissful dreamscape to weirdland to nightmare land.

Bogeymen and creatures of the night would come from the nightmare land, and their abilities and appearances would be derived from the average dislikes and fears of all humans, elves and dwarves. So they would truly be beings of nightmare.

Also you could find randomly generated artifacts made of the stuff of dreams. They would poof by entering the real world again, which would set off tantrums in dreamland, slowly taking the mirth, turning it into nightmare.

Other dimensions such as the ones you describe are planned, probably not gonna happen for another few years though :>

We would have added multi-planar worlds a long time ago if I had thought to support them ten years ago. The way it's setup now it's an annoyance ... around the level of adding the z coordinate, but the z co-ordinate got added and multi-planar worlds are going to make it in too.

The question is, will there be an ocarina in a dream within a dream?

I have an idea. Let's play a game where you win by being as quiet as possible.
I get it, it's one of those games where losing is fun!
I spend most of your dimension's time outside of your dimension. I can't guarantee followup or followthrough on any comments, ideas, or plans.

If you sleep in a dream world, will you go deeper?

Probably not in a dwarven fortress... I don't see any DF race other than humans doing this. Kobolds could probably make a mean death whistle though.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
