Finally got my ass into a theater to see this. Holy shit. After the sandstorm part was over, I checked my pulse and it was around 110. I can't remember the last time an action movie actually elicited that kind of physical response.
Couple of things I haven't seen mentioned:
1. The Doof Warrior's flamethrower guitar? That was a real double-neck guitar. With a real flamethrower. That the guy actually played at 70mph while in a bungee harness. If that alone isn't fucking metal enough to watch this movie, I'm not sure what is.
2. It was an incredibly brutal movie, yet managed to avoid becoming gore porn or ridiculously bloody. And yet, didn't feel like it was pulling punches either.
3. The clock is now ticking to make a WH40K movie while Miller is still alive to direct it. Because no other human being has such a clear understanding of what it means to be Orky. They'd have to be careful about making the announcement of such a movie, lest legions of fanboys die from acute squee.
4. They've already got the sequel written, and given the success of Fury Road, I expect it to be greenlit soon, if it hasn't already.
5. Brain still broken trying to reconcile the fact that Miller's other major movie besides the Mad Max franchise was Happy Feet.
6. Did anybody else find themselves unconsciously wanting to swerve into other cars driving home from the theater?
