[ORC] Lamellar Leather and Ash

I'm playing an Orc Fortress right now, and while I'm doing okay, I haven't hit the second year yet when enemies will actually start attacking. So... how do I actually make Lamellar leather? I really need to equip a small military. I have some leather, and I have shells and such, but it says I have no leather.

Scratch the wood furnace part, figured it out.

Long process...

1) Upgrade plain leather to tough leather. Oil or tallow needed.
2) Upgrade tough leather to studded leather. Various options. Bones, vermin, etc.
3) Upgrade studded to lamellar by combined studded.

The upgraded chitin is pretty nice on it's own. It's light and almost as strong. Just combine two plain chitin.
