Having a hard time finding quest target.
« on: September 02, 2013, 11:58:03 am »

I get a quest about killing a vampire. Human says to the West.

I see the Quest log, I go to the area.

The quest direction points to west, when I'm in the area.

I talk to each on one of them, can't find the bloodsucker.

I'm stuck. Please help.

Look for anyone who wears anything made of bone, especially human bone.

I know his name. It's not his name. Is the name they gave me not the one that will appear when I "k" on somebody?

The quest direction is only useful for finding the overall site (in this case the village) - once you have reached the site itself, you must follow directions given by NPCs or random luck, the task indicator does _not_ point towards the quest target itself, but usually to a small 'anchor' area of no interest whatsoever.

Look through _all_ cottages in the correct direction, usually there are several. Ask for directions again to narrow down your search. Currently, vampires are quite easy to spot because they're historical personalities and thus flash between two colours (usually a darker and brighter shade of the same basic colour, although there are variants). Oh, and just to hammer down the point, don't pay attention to the task indicator, you've found the hamlet, so it's done its job and won't help you any longer.

Edit: vampires will give you their proper vampire name if talked to. If the names don't match, you're in the wrong house. You could of course also go around and accuse everybody of being a night creature. Everybody who isn't a vampire will give you a "What?! Have you gone bonkers?" response but won't take further offence; quite hilarious.

Just did a quest like this. Houses with lots of humans inside were sorta placed like this on the map:

            N
      [1]
W       [2]         E
             [3]
                [4]
           S

1-4 = houses

I was sort of confused because I expected the "cottage" to be a single building away from the rest of the "community", but it turned out when people in house 1 was telling me to check the cottage south east, and people in house 3 were telling me to find Uda Blabla the Vampire in the north west cottage, my dwarven adventurer "the poetry of anuses" should have realized that they were in fact refering to house 2.

Keep asking "service" to have other villagers repeat the "our community is threatened by vampire x" and they will tell you the direction of the cottage. Once you have located what you believe is the right house, talk to everyone there and ask them their names. Correct name? Accuse of being a night creature. Fight ensues.

Look for the flashing dude. Wearing bone. Who gets all pricky when you accuse him of being a night creature.  Not sure the quest target name will show up even when you talk to him.

I challenge you to a game of 'Hide the Sausage', to the death.

I was going to post something about this also, but someone beat me to it. The only difference is that my TSK Map leads me to the middle of nowhere. Anyone wanna help? I have had the problem several times before with vampires, but never care. I always found another vampire to kill. This time, there is only one vampire, and he is very close to a necromancer tower. I'd love to drink his blood and explore that tower....any help?

probably because they are holed up in a location that can't be accessed in adv mode until toady puts those in i mean they appear on the travel map but when actually controlling a person the place appears empty IIRC this is a known issue.
