Ive not played a lot of adventure mode. I had a game a while back playing as en elf, I explored a human town and found a keep ?. Inside there were hostile kobolds ? But also high in the keep was the human lawgiver whom I could talk to.

Since then ive played a few games and it seems that the human leader and occasionally guards inside the keep attack my elves (4 different elves now).

Is that normal/right that humans will attack an elf? The 4 were all in the same world but not all the same human town/elf civ.

The humans outside the keep dont attack me only the ones in the keep.

Why are kobolds in there as well ?

Is it all a case of just "not finished yet" ?

Thanks for reading

That's simple, your elf civ may have been at war with--

Oh. No idea then, unless they are somehow all at war.

The kobolds are bandits, and some of the humans might be too. Are they below the keep, in the dungeons?

Hmm, I did think of this, just seemed that they were free to roam the keep. They might have been below. Ill pay more attention.

Im currently genning a new world to see if the same thing happens.

Shouldnt the lawgiver + guards + peasants have the same attitude to me ?

Cheers for the reply anyway

I can see guards attacking on sight, and possibly the law-giver as well if he has a military profession, but from my experience peasants will leave you alone so long as you don't try talking to them or walking into their square. Though that's only if your civ is unfriendly towards theirs but you yourself are not. If you are an enemy of their civ they will attack.

Have you tried talking to any of the peasants?

Yeah I could talk to the peasents. I havent tested in a new world yet, i just built a quick fort to make some equipment.

"I had a game a while back playing as en elf",

Well what did you expect?

Shredding every foe with your teeth, crushing them under your heels and hearing the lamentation of their !!pet cavies!!

Because that's how elven adventurers roll. They're mean, lean, sentient-eating machines.

My current elven adventurer habitually sneaks into bandit camps unseen, grabs the leader by the throat and chokes them to death while the followers wonder why their boss suddenly fell down for no good reason. Good times. Oh, and she does that only using her left hand, the right's been unusable since a sparring accident with a crab. Hasn't slowed her down yet.

Don't you have modest mod by chance or something like that?

No mods no. I edited the dwarf lifespan to 250-300 and changed child age to 6, both for fort mode.

No other changes.

Well I finally managed to collect the armour I made at a fort. My Elf had to literally go from one corner to the opposite to reach my fort and swim a narrow ocean channel. Took a long time but hes now wearing full masterwork steel and carrying a masterwork wood xbow and shield and a masterwork spear and short sword. I probably should have made new characters until I got someone closer but I needed and still need some experience of adventure mode so I decided on a grand journey.

I struggled to find another human settlement with a tower on the way to my fortress but I have finally found another human settlement and the law giver is not attacking me. I have no idea what caused my problem. Ill try to do a tour of the humans in this world and see if anyone is hostile to me here.

In the meantime im gonna see about doing some quests. The Deebus the kobold story has inspired me to persevere with adventure mode.

Ive read previously about there being only human sites on adventure mode and I finally understand. There are no actual dwarf forts (apart from the ones you build yourself) no elf villages or goblin camps(or whatever they are) ?

It also makes more sense now when I read toady talking about dwarf and goblin sites (and possibly elf sites with the multi tile trees ?).

Its all getting me even more excited for the next release. History continuing is exciting me as well as fort mode armies. The world seems a little dead at the minute (despite being more alive than possibly any other game in important regards - so im not complaining).

Anyway its time for adventure!
