Navigating through sewers
« on: September 05, 2013, 01:30:46 pm »

Alright, so I took on a quest from a lord or lady to find a reptile-man vampire crime lord or something and his last known whereabouts are the sewers of a town.
Now, I'm not successful at the first few attempts as I always end up in a long corridor of dead olm men and somesuch, but I'd like to have at least one of my adventurers to gain their own moniker.

So how do I find this bastard so that I could hack off its head and give it to the lord of the lands?

It's really difficult and sometimes impossible I think.

My advice is don't. If they tell you to go down to the sewers just ask them again for a quest. If they don't have any more for you run to another civilisation and don't turn back. Without (and even sometimes with) DFhack sewer quests can be nearly impossible.

You can usually find them in openings where the sewer drains into a nearby river. Oftentimes these won't actually connect to the rest of the sewer system, just a few nearby grates in the city street.

You pretty much need to be a vampire to kill them without drowning, unless you want to risk attempting to lure them out before you drown.

Bummer, most of the civs in here request the death of crime lords hiding in sewers.

I guess I should just purge the world of every sentient being I can kill, I hear it's better to be feared than loved! :)
