10 Challenges
« on: September 23, 2013, 06:16:43 pm »

basically I tried (emphasis on try) to think of the ten most random challenges and see other try to complete them.

1 ) Black Knight: survive having all your limbs chopped off then kill 10 people while limbless.

2 ) Fear the night: wrestle a boogeyman to death

3 ) Armok's blessing: cover yourself in the blood of 20 different enemies

4 ) Coward: throw a chicken at a fleeing enemy. the chicken can be a corpse

5 ) Volcanoic Sacrifice: somehow get an enemy (bonus if megabeast) to fall into a volcano

6 ) Corpsing: kill a necromancer with a corpse

7 ) Village wars: start a loyalty cascade in a village

8 ) Flash Freeze: force an enemy to freeze itself in water

9 ) Klutz: kill yourself in a cave in

10 ) Servant of Thanatos: start an age of death/emptiness.

Hehe. I've already done 4 of these. Not sure if 9 or 10 are possible.

9 is possible via Advfort or building a fort on a single supportbeam or melting a wall of ice with fire. but it's usually means doing something in Fort mode which might not be possible normally.

I've heard of people who have done ten before. you have to start on a pocket world and kill every sentient you see. then kill yourself.

bonus if you do it with challenge 9.

challenge 9 requires a little set up, but it shouldn't be that hard to set up.

I have a tried and true method for fighting bogeymen bare handed. Bite them in the lower body and then shake them about. It should tear them in half and give you some more things to throw  ;D

God, I hate bogeymen.  I always gen worlds without them.  They're simply too nimble for my legendary-in-everything adventurer to hit.  Maybe if they didn't have an innate dodge of Grand Master I would be able to kill at least one before they bruise both my lungs and kill me.

I've done a couple of those.

How to fight bogeymen, well first off read Hughgee's post, he's got it.
Make your character with max agility, and never fight more than one bogeyman. Never let them get the first hit in, and knock them down.
They may be fast, but not if you tackle them and break their leg while they're down.
Also, lure them onto a shrub, and light the shrub on fire. Then watch them burn to death.

I don't really have trouble with them anymore.

You just need to set your combat preference to charge and bogeymen are piece of cake.

9) and 10) are possible. However, 9) needs AdvFort utility. It is not possible to get Age of Death in-game, since that requires that all civilizations are wiped out. You can't wipe out civilizations in-game, since tthey are abstract. You can, however, kill everybody, and start Age of Emptiness.

I've found that throwing things and wrestling them is the way to go, but not in crowds, else they punch your iron helmet, bruising the brain.

I remember ol' Batdwarf's last stand. He got ambushed by a warlord on the way to kill a titan, was crippled and then subsequently bit them all to death. The bogeymen descended upon him and he was in blood withdrawal so he was weak. He went raegmode and lept in gravity-defying fwooshes, biting their heads off, biting them in half and biting off their limbs and impaling them with them. The last one got a lucky punch but died from the subsequent faint off of a cliff, according to the legends.

Just don't wrestle the horned ones.

I mean, it's not really that hard, is it? Anyone can wield a torch, it doesn't prove anything. Wearing flaming clothes on the other hand, or better yet, wearing nothing at all and being on fire... that is the essence of dwarfish behavior."

10 does not currently seem to be possible due to the fact that people in hamlets and other civilised places respawn when you leave and come back.

They don't even respawn as themselves, the game just randomly generates them.

How about having an 11th and make it be:

11) Lucha Libre: Wear nothing but a thong and boots, proceed to train wrestling, striking, and kicking to Legendary before strangling a dragon or some other breathing megabeast to death. (bonus points if you also have a mask or helmet of some sort)

Optional: When this is done, kill yourself by jumping into a volcano just for laughs.
