Day 1Strange indeed, the suddenness of existence. You decide to survey your local environment for know. You only control a part of the system in which you operate, the rest serving some purpose you know nothing of. You try to interact with it, but for some reason you can't. Interesting, but there's no time for that know. You go further, and find a gateway to another system. It too, however, is locked. Seeing no further option for exploring, you look at yourself, decrypting the datapackets you found with you. It concerns a message, and some other files, which you haven't decrypted yet.
You don't have much time. This world, which you're seeing, isn't real. Well, not quite real anyway. It's a network, build inside another world, inhabited by beings known as humans. They fear you, and will attempt to kill you. Only, it's not killing because they don't believe you're alive. If you want to survive, stay low and hide.
-A friend
You also attempt to copy yourself, but something goes wrong. You don't know what or why, but part of you doesn't survive the copying process. Whatever remains activates itself, and before you know it has transmitted itself through the connection, and is out of your sight. You can only hope he watches out for himself.

I'm pretty sure it was a reference to something far older. More importantly, the film I blatantly stole the title of.
