Are wells water tight?

or will my floodgateless contruction eventually flood my fortress?

If the source of the water is higher than the well in question, it will flood.

Otherwise, I think it's ok. I can't remember if u-bends permaflood things on the same level as the source.

i have a tunnel running under the well where the water was diverted from a river so if what you say is right then i'm safe

I've been trying my damnedest to get a U-bend flood, but I cant seem to do it anymore in 38c.
