how to claim factories?

Hi, new to LCS. I've been trying to get a factory safehouse.. can't figure out how to claim it, my googling turns up nothing.. Do I need to shoot it up to claim it?

I'm playing the android port, if it makes a difference.

Just send any squad there, you can use them anytime you want, although I suggest upgrading before doing anything serious there.

Are you talking about an abandoned factory or one that has workers who make things? Does it have the word "Abandoned" at the beginning of its name? You start out controlling all the abandoned factories and being able to use any of them as safehouses. The factories that AREN'T abandoned, however, are full of Union Workers and Non-Union Workers as well as Equipment and stuff, and those are enemy sites you do raids on to help you out with issues like labor unions, worker's rights, and pollution. You don't get to use THOSE as safehouses. If you're looking for places to conquer:

1) Crackhouses work, just kill a bunch of Gang Members at one and you're all set
2) The 3 CCS hideouts work, you need to kill a CCS Lieutenant at the first 2 and the CCS Founder at the 3rd to get control of them
3) You can rent apartments for money (which is lame) or point weapons at the Landlord and threaten them in order to get a free apartment with no rent (which is awesome)

I have also heard rumors of people being able to turn prisons into safehouses somehow, but that is probably an unintentional bug or something. But it may work. But I think you have to get people sent to prison first before they can use it as a safehouse. I'm not exactly sure how that exploit works. But I'm pretty sure it works in the most recent stable release of the game, 4.07.0. Not as sure about the newer versions though, it might have been fixed by someone since then, I don't know.

oh, one more thing.. i have a platoon of sleeper judges and lawyers, lying low. should they be doing anything else? (stealing/advocacy/etc)

Nope, nothing. Unless you want some documents, but they'd be useless to you since it seem you wouldn't have any upgradeable safe houses.

Leave them alone until September, then set them all to advocacy.  Those months of doing nothing will enhance their cover, boosting their power for when you unleash them against their masters (via advocacy).  Best to activate them in September so they can affect the issues immediately prior to the elections in November.

As a general rule, I like to have sleepers Advocate Liberalism whenever their infiltration percentage is 90% or higher, and have them Lying Low if their infiltration percentage is below 90%. This requires checking up on them once a month to update which ones are Advocating Liberalism and which ones aren't. It takes many months of Advocating Liberalism to have a real impact on public opinion, after all. There are many different issues and it take sustained effort over time to win over the public on all of them.

But you are correct about the need to have as many people Advocating Liberalism as possible right before an election. So starting in September I would set all sleepers to Advocate Liberalism regardless of infiltration percentage, and then in November after the elections, I'd go back to checking who is above and below 90% to decide who should be Advocating Liberalism then. Checking up on sleepers only needs to be done once a month, as sleepers take their actions when one month ends and the next month begins.
