Do the undead stop if I kill the necromancer?
« on: August 17, 2013, 01:00:25 pm »

Just wanted to know if I could beat the undead siege by killing the necros themselves. It's a pain in the ass to stay inside so long, and I'm sure my elite warriors could carve a path to each of the necros in this siege and hack them to pieces.

The existing zombies will continue to shuffle. No new zombies though.

Bear in mind, there are usually MANY necromancers inside a necro tower.

This current siege seems to have four necros. I think my battle Urists can kill those four, but I'm not sure if they could handle all the zombies that are left shuffling around.

You could always wall yourself in, and fire crossbows at them until they are dead for reals once you kill the necros.

I have trouble with marksdwarves and ammunition.

I saw a lot of solutions around already, but none work consistently. Latest and most effective was not allowing ammo to go in bins, but then I have to make a huge non-bin ammo stockpile...

Devote a craftsdwarf workshop solely to ammo production and not use an ammo stockpile.

Or use quantum stockpiling.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
