POLL - Vote now: Workshops and Decorations
« on: August 04, 2013, 03:44:17 am »

Just trying to find out what players are looking for.

EDIT: First poll is up, some simple stuff about workshop handling. I'll wait for people to vote, lets say between 100 and 200 votes, then I change it accordingly. If the votes are more or less tied, I either make it an optional setting, or dont change anything from the status quo, depending on how serious the topic is.

I plan to post all polls here in future, this way its easier to find.

Voted, good poll Meph.

And honestly, just because I want to start a conversation, I think that all buildings alike should be built by the architect just because he's ordered to. Even if no one has the skill to work said workshop.

I agree with this premise, especially since I never seem to have enough things for my architects to actually DO once I have them build my bridges and what-not.  They spend the majority of their days throwing parties.  Life is good for architects.  But then, architects are designers, not builders.  Perhaps we could have them design the more complex items like the fountains, taverns, and guilds (if they are not already set up that way).

I'm wondering if its not possible to assign builders based on the materials used in construction:  if I build a butcher shop out of wood, it makes sense the carpenter should do it, rather than the mason (who would build it from stone).

I think buildings should be constructed mason+fitting labor like bridge architect+mason but i dont know if hardcode can be modded like that

Workshops use ONE skill I can give them.
Furnaces use Architect + ONE skill I can give them.

Thats it. Usually I'd say that a mason would build a building, but the vanilla buildings are all done by the fitting skill/buildlabor combo. So carpenter'S workshop is being build by carpenter, even if the shop is made of stone... and so on.

Honestly, slapping mason/architect on every building would make modding way easy for me. :P

EDIT:Mhm.... maybe a seperate post for a poll wasnt such a good idea, people voted more on the more active threads... ^^

You can have multiple or no labor tokens:
From Wiki:
Quote
BUILD_LABORlabor tokenThe labor required to construct the custom building. If multiple BUILD_LABOR tokens are specified, then any of the indicated labors can be used to construct the building; if none are specified, then no labors are required.
For furnaces, this labor does not come into play until after the workshop has been designed by an architect.

That just means that if you give Carpentry and Masonry to a workshop, either the mason or the carpenter will run and buils the building, not one after another

Yeah, thats what I meant. Only one skill that is used. For example for the Alchemists Lab I cant do "Architect (planning) + Mason (building exterior) + Carpenter (building interior) + Alchemist (outfitting the lab)"

I find the fact workshops or build by the skill that uses the workshops to be useful, "Why isn't that built yet? Oh, I don't have any leatherworkers, thought I did."
