To be fair, making things moddable can be a metric ton of (really boring) work. Also, Minecraft wasn't moddable. It was pretty much reverse engineered at first, as far as I remember.

I don't see any need for 'modding'. Seems to me that far too many mediocre games hide their shortcomings behind a huge pile of player-made mods these days.
Also you can just release that stuff as an expansion and get more monies. Who doesn't want more monies?!

Ah, yes, but does he get to be young for all those years or will he be ancient for most of his life? Studies show that most people refuse to voluntarily die (as a hypothetical) even when faced with rapid quality of life degradation due to health issues.

And as we all know, work = time & money. As much as I prefer my games moddable, I agree with you. Making game relatively easy to mod isn't just something that you will into existence. So while it is something I like to see, I can understand why many developers ignore it.
