Overlapping fracture
« on: July 31, 2013, 04:12:45 pm »

Hello.

I have a dwarf who got a hammering, he got treated for several broken stuff and later put into a traction bench where he has been evaluated around 50 times with no further action from the doctors. Is this a bug or will he eventually be released. I tried deconstructing the tractor bench but he just laid there on the floor .

is there a chest filled with stuff in the hospital zone?
You have Splints, crutches and what-not?
You have thread?
You have cloth?
You have...meh, could be the bone setter busy elsewhere.

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

The hospital is well stocked and the bone doctor is slacking off with 'No job'. A continuous parade of dwarves go to the patient to evaluate him and nothing else.

^This.

Constant diagnoses are common procedure with dwarfs in traction. And that they happen actually mean everything's alright.
If the health screen still shows 'overlapping fracture', the fracture's still there and awaits mending; _don't_ deconstruct the traction bench or the fracture will get re-broken and the treatment has to start all over again. And such a fracture takes weeks to months to heal.

Dwarfs can get 'stuck in traction', but that's visibly different - those are dwarfs with the 'fracture' indicator gone who remain in traction without ever getting diagnosed or otherwise treated.

It's perfectly normal to get between three and a dozen diagnoses' between every actual medical job.
Don't worry, he'll get fixed eventually.

Well after another extra dozen evaluations the patient walked out of the hospital unnoticed and is apparently in perfect health.
