Kyle is once again staring at the screen of his computer. To be specifically he's staring at the word document that is up as he tries to figure out what to write. He starts to mumble,
"How do I make a nonpowered individual in a group of people that can turn into super powered near gods not seem useless?"
He sighs and shakes his head before saving the document and shutting off his monitor before turning around in his chair and getting up. He puts on his wristbands and fedora as he heads out of the door of his house and walking down the streets not really paying attention to anything as he thinks.
((This good?))

Jon woke, head pounding, and waited for the blur across his vision to receed. When it did not, he sighed heavily, and slipping his feet off the sofa, stumbled to the bathroom.
The sound of dry retching caught his attention. Terry was crouched over the toilet, swaying gently.
'Mornin' handsome,' Jon quipped, as he ran some cold water into the baisin.
The expletive laden reply came back that if Jon didn't shut up he'd be out the door, just as soon as Terry had finished vomiting his guts up. This was met by a snort from Jon. It wasn't his fault his friend couldn't keep up with him.
He splashed the water into his face, the headache already fading as he passed into the kitchenette. Pulling open doors and closing them just as quickly, he soon found the cupboards to be barren. The congealed mess in the rubbish bin reminded him why, of their drunken cooking attempts. But at least the flat hadn't burned down.
'Mate, I'm just gonna' head down the store, pick up breakfast. Want anything?' Jon took the next retch as a no, turning on his heel and grabbing his wallet off the counter on the way out.
The corner shop was five minutes walk away, and by the time he arrived he was relatively clear headed. He pushed through the door, the bell ringing out his presence, as the shopkeeper wished him a begrudging 'Morning.' He passed quickly through the aisles, hands pausing at various items on the shelves for a moment before flicking away. Occasionally, whenever no one was in sight, one of these hands would pass into his jacket. Jon liked this particular shop, especially because it had no cameras.
Finally satisfied, he headed to the counter, a collection of items from various shelves in his arms. He laid them on the counter, and pulled the wallet from his jacket with a flourish. As the vendor read out price monotonously, $30, Jon flicked open the wallet, to reveal it as empty. Swearing under his breath for effect, he flicked through it's various compartments, before making an apologetic smile to the man and scooping back up the items to return them to their shelves. He just hoped the man hadn't noticed the items in the jacket, the ones that hadn't been put through the till.

((It's fine. You haven't done anything for me to roll, however.))

Jon slides his groceries back to the shelves, then continues back past the clerk to the door. As he opens it to leave, a gust of air briefly moves his jacket. Ah, damn, hope nobody saw that. Evidently the clerk did, however, as he exclaims, "Hey, what's that you've got in your pocket?" Looks like the jig might be up.

((Alright.))
Kyle continues to walk down the road before he decides to go to the library.
((I suppose you should describe the library.))

Today is a Sunday. A rainy, miserable bastard of a Sunday, much to the chagrin of one Peter Simms. As the rain beats down on the windows of his mother's house, he waits while his mother prepares a Sunday dinner. The TV is on, currently engaging in its favorite Sunday activity - boring onlookers to death. And all three of the men on the couch - Peter, his noticeably smaller dad Ted and his cousin Ralph. All three are completely silent, only the smell of food cooking preventing them from passing on. They had exhausted all the good news and jokes the previous night when Ralph showed up, and a distinct air of stir-craziness now pervades them.

Occasionally nodding off, but unable to truly sleep, Peter decides to look out the window. Yep, still raining. But you know what? Fuck it, he needs to get out. He shifts in place, then ponderously stands up, towering over the now-insignificant TV screen.

"Erm, you g-g-guys need anythin'? I'm g-going to the store."

"Don't go out, Petey! Dinner's almost ready!" comes Ma Simms' voice from the kitchen. She's got the ears of a bat, he swears.

"Y'said that an hour ago, Ma. I'm g-goin' c-c-c-c-crazy here!" Peter yells back to his mother, his stutter intensifying as he speaks.

"You won't get dinner at all if you keep up the attitude!"

"I'm s-sorry, Ma."

Peter sighs and slowly sits back down, causing the old couch to creak and shift extremely loudly under his weight. His cousin and dad both look at him with an expression that he knows he unconsciously shares. A look of defeat. He looks over at the remote, takes it and starts changing channels. Maybe something good is on.

Ah well. looked like he'd have to find another shop with no cameras. At least they wouldn't have his face.
As the man called out, Jon continued walking, pushing the door halfway open. However, as the man edged round the counter, he took a half step back, causing the clerk to move back himself. Jon flashed him a reassuring grin, before pushing the door open with the foot holding it and darting around the corner into the maze of alleyways around the back.
If he could lose any pursuers back here, then he could head back fine. He might have to dart into the main street, where the crowds would just be beginning to pick up, but he would rather avoid them.

Djenise Peters was inside the white walls of the Artificial Intelligence lab, looking over one of the more recent prototypes. She groaned as she peered inside; whoever had made this had screwed it up. Oh, that's right, it was Simon. Djenise groaned again as she continued to poke around in the AI's logic units. Did Simon even know how to wire a logic unit? This was a horrible mess. Denise puts her hands on her face. She might very well be able to fix this, but it was not going to be easy, and she was extremely pissed. But she sighed. She had to anyway.
Denise attempts to fix the mess of an AI logic unit her coworker made.

Arris wipes his brow, holding the iron with tongs in a heavily-gloved hand. He sets it back on the anvil (a high-grade, modern one, rather than the simple cast iron ones of medieval times), and pounds some more of the slag out of it. He could buy steel that had already had this done, but he didn't. It impeded the flow, if someone else had already worked it, and gave him less time to make it his own. It was also expensive. As he folded the iron over again, he heard knocking at the door. He sighed, set the white-hot metal down, and stepped away, the furnace roaring behind him. "Yeah, Claire?" "Irkwood's back. Said the crown should be done by now." "That little fucker...he's right though. It's on the fourth shelf up, right side. And you can tell that next time he comes half a week early he can shove it up his-" the large man was interrupted by a man dashing through the alley out back. Frowning, he tossed the hammer so it would land at the guys feet, maybe trip him or at least slow him down. One way or another, whatever he was running from, Arris could deal with it.

You walk down the street and approach the Petty Public Library, an old building sitting on the edge of the Thomas Petty Square. The building looks as though it was built in the '30s, a two story structure made of old crumbling red brick and rusty iron. The place has simple square windows with many small panes, from which dim yellow light spills. There is an old rusty fire escape down the left side of the building, from an emergency door on the second floor. You walk through the oak paneled windowless double doors, and enter the dirty library itself. The area near the entrance is cordoned off by rope dividers into a lobby area about thirty feet wide and twenty feet long, with dirty old armchairs scattered about and a large stained pine front desk dominating the center rear of the area, behind which sits a thin, gray-haired woman in her sixties with a pair of silver spectacles. A few people are sitting in scattered chairs, absorbed in their reading. To the left, a gap in the dividers leads to a darkened alclove containing an old wooden staircase leading up to the second floor. To the right, another gap leads to a large brightly lit two-story area full of bookshelves and writing desks, ringed by a dark balcony on the second story. At the back of the library is another wooden door which you guess leads to the administrative section of the library.

You flip through channels with irritated boredom. There doesn't seem to be anything good on these days on the thirteen channels you get. Channel eight is showing the daily weather report. Channel five has an especially sappy old western on. Channel one is reserved for public announcements, and is currently static. Channel four features an infomercial for some sort of folding chair. Channel eleven is currently broadcasting a documentary on Renaissance artists. Channel thirteen is really fuzzy, and you can't make out anything of it. Huh, it wasn't like this earlier. Channel nine features the ending credits of a cartoon, then cuts to commercials. Commercials occupy the other channels, and you skip those.

You try to run, but the clerk is fast for his age. With a shout, he whips out his taser and dashes toward you. You react quickly and run out the door, but he is faster and catches you before you've run a block, stabbing you in the small of the back with the head of the weapon. "Gotcha now, thief." You quickly slump unconscious.

You awake in a dirty cell ringed by walls of steel bars. There is a door also made of a mesh of bars set into the south side of the room, offset to the west. On the east and west sides are a pair of metal benches. The room is about a ten foot square, and is occupied by eight other men in various dress, sleeping, sitting, walking around, and the like. You feel your clothes and discover that your personal effects are missing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The logic unit is pretty trashed, but most of the damage seems to be superficial, and you believe with a bit of work it can be salvaged. You really don't know what exactly you need to do to get it running; you work more with the software side of the project. Might as well fix things up, though. With your deft, nimble fingers, you remove the corroded components for cleaning and repair, and clean out the inside of the unit, taking care not to touch the sensitive microdrive arrangements. You then wire the unit into your terminal, so you can check the status of the program once it's cleaned up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With an expert flick of your wrist, you toss the hammer in front of the man in dark, shabby clothes, who, running headlong down the alley, trips over the errant tool and flips in the air, landing down on his left knee with a sickening crack. He manages to stand up, grimacing with the pain, and proceeds to run off, staggering as his injured leg takes the weight.
