So my speardwarf just lost an arm along with a few minor injuries killing two forgotten beasts who got tired of hanging out in the sauna and attacked my fort. I checked him just now to see if he'll live and his mouth muscles and skin are completely numb along with one of his cheeks. I'm concerned that he's going to starve to death or (in a show of crass irony) drown in his own booze. Has anyone else dealt with this and is it fatal?

Either way I may just promote him to a noble position if he can't use his spear anymore. At best he can't talk and thus can't mandate or demand anything, at worst he starves to death.

He won't be able to bite in battle, I know that much. But I think that for mandates and picking up food and such, the important thing is that they have something with "grasp" on it, hands usually.

Edit: Wait, is this numbness or nerve damage? There's a difference between not being able to feel pain in a body part, and not being able to move a body part. Numbness just means he won't mind when something knocks his teeth out.

Well he's still got one working arm so he should be able to do all that, he's also retrieved his spear apparently. Thanks for the help.

Edit: Numbness, I realized on further thought that I may have just had a moment of incredible foolishness. He just can't feel his mouth so he's not going to starve to death, he'll just bite his own tongue significantly more often.
