Programs for compressing videos for uploading and stuff?
« on: July 16, 2013, 04:59:55 pm »

Pretty simple question. I got FRAPS for recording and games to record, but the video sizes for anything longer than a minute become ridiculous. An hour long video of an XCOM mission is 78 gigs.

How would I reduce the gigamegahippomongous file sizes without dropping the quality or something? Any specific programs or tips or anything? I hardly have an idea of what I'm asking about, so hopefully my questions still make some sense.

Your going have drop the quality if you want to save HDD space.

You can do this by;

1.   Reduce video frame rate (30fps->15fps)
2.   Reduce video quality (1080p->480p)
3.   Reduce the Audio (Stereo->Mono)

Programs for reducing file size:
handbrake- Lot of options.
avidemux-not very intuitive but pretty good.
