Object Tilesets and Filthy, Filthy Hoo-mans
« on: October 23, 2007, 11:48:00 am »

It seems like every time I use an object tileset it turns every fortress I create from then on out into humans. That would be great if the game were Human Fortress, but it's not! Can anyone help me out?

This was a problem with the easy pack a few versions of it ago (due to a stupid mistake on my part). It shouldn't still be doing it though, and I have no idea why it would be. Try downloading it again maybe?

Well, I'm not using the easy pack, I'm trying to get the DeepQantas set to work. Still using Herrbdog's 16x16 font set, though. And it looks like it's working just fine. Only... everyone is human.

And oddly enough, I just generated a new world and my li'l dwarves are back in action. The Machine Spirits must be pleased.

That's... baffling. Since there's no reason at all that should happen with any version of DQ's tiles.

the DQ tiles are based on the DR tiles, and refer to the DR install instructions.  if he is using the DQ tiles with the bugged text file, it would have the same problem.

I had the same problem.  On three worlds in a row.  What was the same about these three worlds?  They none of them had a dwarven civilization!

It was only when I generated a world WITH dwarves that the images stopped making like humans.

The text file used for graphics wasn't bugged though, it was fine. It was a file in the object raws that was causing a problem, which you should only get if you're using the easy pack.

I'm going to hijack this thread now. I was browsing the DF Wiki and under DR's Object Tileset update you've written: "10/08/07: Thanks to Gibbed's tileset checking program...". Where can I download this? Also, is there an archive somewhere listing the game's every creature and unit (including the zombie/skeleton type for each character)? I'm creating my own object tileset and this would help me out.

You can't download it. Gibbed keeps it for his own use and doesn't want to distribute it for various reasons. He was kind enough to check my tileset anyway though, and he seems pretty much willing to do the same for anyone who asks nicely. I'm not sure how you could contact him though, unless you have a Something Awful membership.

As for the sort of list you're looking for... Gibbed has one I believe, amusingly enough. Other than that... there are plenty of partial lists and you can work out most things by just playing the game enough and snooping about in the raws and other peoples' graphics_example.txt files.

Thanks! No wonder I was having trouble searching, neither one of the items are finalized for the public I guess.

I'm having difficulty with insect/small creature graphics to function in the game.
Is there no way for this to work currently?
