easy question about buckets, how do you place them?

Can't figure out how to place a bucket! Trying to make a barracks.

To make a room into a barracks, you need to designate it from a bed, armor stand, or weapon rack. Press 'q' while hovering over any one of these objects that you've built through the 'b' menu and you'll be able to designate the barracks.

Buckets can't be built, they're just used by dwarves to bring other injured dwarves (or prisoners) water, and in the construction of wells.

If you want it for giving water to hurt troops you can set up a specific stockpile just for buckets. Hope this helps.
