Hey, axe murders happen here occasionally too. And there's the Lizzie Borden story to make them famous.

An axe is a tool, though. You can't limit them; they're used to chop wood and if everybody with a wood stove had to register their axe, it'd be ridiculous. You can't limit chainsaws or butcher knives or baseball bats. There are some knives that are meant as weapons, the ones that are spring-loaded or similar, and of course combat knives in general; L+ country might regulate those.

I would like to see the Liberals' options limited further as the country becomes more liberal, since the game gets a bit more boring toward the end. I don't know if it would make a difference to eliminate shotguns because by then you might well be wielding M16s from multiple sieges, but it'd be logical.

If we could think up some ways to up the difficulty for a late-game LCS with essentially unlimited resources, that would be interesting. Actually, it might be interesting to have various hypocritical actions "backfire" in public opinion if public opinion is Liberal enough; so your M16-wielding squad tearing through the police station, causing sixty deaths in a country where gun control is L+ should not make the LCS more popular or positively affect the Police issue--at least, if your squad is caught using the guns. You should have to, say, release prisoners or talk about the police in the Guardian or on the TV or radio. Might be able to get away with using guns if everybody's C+ gung-ho about them, but I don't think that it's really enough to just add an illegal weapons charge to the list of a few hundred murders. By then, if you're carrying M16s, you're either kidnapping or killing conservatives and the illegal weapons charge isn't going to faze you.

This reminds me of the removed "support for direct action" public view. This view set a limit on violent actions, beyond which even the most positive raids would count as rampages. The more people supported direct action, that is, the more the LCS could get away with.

In an L+ society, illegal weapon charges would be a very serious matter, even more so than murder. So that charge should correspondingly carry more 'heat' (to attract police/army attention) and make the jury less sympathetic towards you if you do decide to surrender to the police.

No kidding. There's been a case over here (gun laws almost L+) of someone getting a "visit" from a SWAT team because his neighbors saw him handling a suspicious gun-like object in his house (which turned out to be a power drill). That one beats case of the youths who got raided because someone saw them with airsoft guns.

L+ gun laws plus hysteria means hilarity ensues (unless you're the one whose house gets raided).
