The Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight games from GOG.com might fit.

Mmm... Not weird enough...

I can't really put my finger on what makes weird games great... That sense of the unknown and isolation. The Void is a perfect example but I can't explain why it's good.

Argh... I'm thinking of a game, it might've been a adventure game. I think it had early 3D graphics and you played as a boy and a robot friend? I think it took place on this alien planet.

Ooo, "The Dig" has a great atmosphere in it, as well as having a rather mature storyline.

I've played the game called Overblood on PS one a long time ago. It was a good gaming experience (even with almost unhearable voices due to, seems, pirate disc). Mysterious, with lots of puzzles and dangerous situations. Would suggest it to anyone interested (via PS One or emulator).

Another PS one masterpiece which might be called adventure (to my mind) is Parasite eve 2. Merging of TPS/RPG, has good storyline, pleasant looks and moderately dark atmosphere.

Thats all that I can recall for now on (not mentioning some already listed games).

Anamnesis might have the right value of weird/mature you're looking for. Not so much an adventure game as an rpg/tbs, it does have the advantage of being in current development (to the point where bugs are reported and fixed via way of here). The developer also seems very open to new ideas. Another advantage being that bay12 is the default development forum for it (although it does have its own forum). So if you want some fairly mysterious mechanics in an odd Cthulu'ish world with rpg/tbs and adventure elements, give it a go.

Have you tried Yume Nikki? It's a very bizarre exploration game somewhat similar to Dear Esther, you explore the 12 very unique worlds and their subworlds of your dream, collecting items to let you further explore the worlds.

You might also want to try OFF, I haven't played it but it looks like something you might be interested in.
