P.S.:

I'm a few k deep into credit debt, but I'm seriously wanting to build a new PC

...not for Team Fortress 2, which I run just fine

...not for Hellgate: London, which I suspect I could squeak by on

...not for StarCraft 2, which I'm eagerly anticipating - and which will probably not see release until 2009

...but for the new release of DF, which I can only really play with the smallest starting area (at least once I start digging below my starting Z plane)

I'll also note that my 2Ghz. chokes on the new version of DF.  30 FPS, with Invaders/artifacts/weather/etc. all [:OFF]

Yeah, but a Core2 is still going to smack down any older-generation CPU like a naughty puppy even on single-threaded applications.  I went with a Duo instead of a Quad on my new machine just for Dwarf Fortress overclocking potential.

Can't wait to get home from work and try it.
