My farmers won't work in the farmer's workshop
« on: June 10, 2008, 07:52:00 am »

I've hardly gotten them to construct it (they took a day), and I've set it to process plants, milk a creature and make cheese. I've two farmers with the appropriate skills, and yet none of them will work in the workshop, instead walking around and eating all day. What am I doing wrong?

What you've done is built a "Farmer's Workshop" (b - w - w)which is not where they'll grow plants.  The dwarves grow things on a "Plot" (b - p).  In the workshop, they use the Plant Processing labor to process a plant, the Cheese Making labor to make cheese, and the Milker labor to milk purring maggots.  If you have them in the order you've set up, and you don't have anyone with Plant Processing enabled, then the workshop will never get beyond that job and the other two will never enter it to milk any purring maggots you've got or to make cheese from any such milk.

When you build a building, you need a dwarf with special profession enabled. Hower over it with "q" to see them.

We need an ability to pin threads and make a FAQ. This is at least 3rd thread about farming workshop in the last month.
