Mountain Halls on Embark Screen
« on: June 22, 2013, 09:27:13 am »

As the title states, when embarking both Dwarves and Mountain Halls are listed in the Civilisations tab. I am not playing as dwarves, if that matters (although I don't think it should).

This is the first time I'm seeing this, whether not playing as dwarves or as dwarves. So, what are the implications? Will there be sieges even faster? Does this happen with other races too, i.e. Forest Retreats?

And just in case someone asks, no, there is no race called "Mountain Halls", this is Masterwork.

This is a question probably best asked in the Masterwork child board of the Modding section.  There, you will find many knowledgable persons in the inner workings of this thing called Masterwork.

I would, except this doesn't look like something out of Masterwork, because there IS no entity called "Mountain Halls" and you can't really mod embark screens.

I could speculate and say that, since I don't know how the custom playable civilizations work in Masterwork, it could be that some other race had conquered a Dwarven Mountain Hall during world generation and the name stuck.  But that's purely speculation.

I suppose the definitive answer would be to start an adventurer, travel to one of these Not Necessarily Dwarven Mountain Halls and see who is hanging about.  The story teller in me wants it to be a Necromancer King who succeeded in keeping the throne, only to have his entire civilization die out in world gen, leaving him ruling a Mountain Hall of soulless undead, whose very name has been lost in the ever shifting sands of history.

It's basically the same as a "Town" or a "Forest retreat" on embark. A site that has been conquered by a nearby necromancer tower.

Ah yes, that makes sense. There does happen to be a Tower nearby. Thank you Gigaz!
And thanks Mr S too... Pretty damn close guess :)
