Archery Targets
« on: June 10, 2008, 03:01:00 am »

When setting up archery targets and designating the room as an archery range around them, does it matter if the archery ranges overlap with the ranges of the next target, as long as there is a clear firing line for each one?

I have set up 4 archery targets in a line in the same physical room, but there is never more than 1 dwarf shooting at a time, even though they are all designated as archery ranges

They do all have crossbows, though it might be because I am not producing bolts fast enough for them all to get them at the same time.

Overlapping Arcery Ranger won't cause much else a problem than dwarfs shooting TOWARDS eachother if the ranges are set to opposite directions.

Still, the bolts tend to end up around the target, so dwarfs aren't too likely to hit eachother, but you never know.

it shouldn't matter, I set targets up in a line all the time and it always works.

FWIW bolts never do friendly fire no matter what right now, so you don't need to worry about friendlies getting hit.

thats not what i have noticed.  i am pretty sure that other dwarfves can get accidentallly shot.  i am not positive tho, as i only notice the aftermath of said accidents and the gore left behind, not the accidents themselves.  its possible taht some off duties were wrestling in the middle of the archery range, but i dont think so.

anyone else got any ideas on this?

There is no friendly fire.  A little unfortunate considering all the peasants that sleep in my barracks.

Since this topic contains info about training marksdwarves, I have one tidbit.

A berseked axedwarf is a problem.  A berserked Axelord is a bigger one.

A berserker elite marksdwarf will end your fort if he has enough ammo.
