Nether caps not growing in third cavern layer
« on: June 21, 2013, 01:00:42 pm »

Hello Bay12, I've found that in my current fortress Nether caps are not growing in the third cavern layer (yes, it's the third one, it has blood thorn and other trees), and thus not growing in my tree farm. I've checked the raws and my save and everything seems ok (I haven't touched them). So, what's your opinion on this issue? What could be the reason?

Specific information:
-I'm using the LNP
-I've changed tilesets some times. Currently using Ironhand.
-I've currently turned invaders off so that I can get a caravan in with bunnies (to do some !!Science!!).

Are there any nether caps in the cavern at all?

I understand that it is disappointing when a dwarf makes a spiked loincloth instead of an axe.

No, there aren't nether caps in the whole map. But they are supposed to grow in the third cavern layer, that's why I put that title.

I do know that occasionally cavern layers will be spawned without any fungus at all. Something similar probably happened on your map, just the RNG messing about.

It's not a big problem, I just basically wanted a magma-safe material, because my map hasn't got either sand or iron. Well, I guess that I will have to amass sand imports.
