Now I know the definitions of quadruped, tetrapod and that there is such a thing as pineapple opal. Also that if there were a giant beast made of the latter it would probably slaughter a fortress. Thank you DF.

Just think about all the lovely gem encrustations you could make from a giant monster comprised entirely of gemstone!

Seriously, just drop a big rock on it, then send in the gemcutters!

Even better if you could somehow keep it alive, and just chip pieces off forever!

(Toady, you really need to make FBs regenerate severed parts over time, and allow processing of inorganic limbs into stone boulders!)

So imagine Bruce Lee, except he's a horse, and that he has 4 horse-legs for walking and 4 Bruce-Lee-legs for kicking in skulls.

Science actually has a word for it, Chuck Norris.

Ugh, tell me about it. On my last big fortress I got a quadruped made of rubies. And then it just...lay there. In the second cavern layer, right near my cavern entrance. Just... neglected. SO MUCH VALUE.

Problem is that inorganic FBs currently does not leave anything useful. :(

I took a few minutes to realise what exactly the problem was, and then spent several minutes laughing hard. Interesting indeed.

No, its an eight limbed quadruped in the same way that humans are four limbed bipeds.

Well, what is a "leg" if it is not a limb used for locomotion? So I can imagine a four-limbed biped (eg a human), but a four-legged biped?

Also, I think an X-ped comes from latin ped which just means foot, not "limb used for locomotion".
