How advanced will civilizations get in the future?

Will they stay in medieval type stage or will their be later updates that will make it if the world gen for 5000 years it would be more modern?

toady has said the explicit tech level will never get beyond medieval. however players have been able to make turing machines and calculators....

Dwarves say just "fuck your medieval" and build reactors producing infinite energy and quantum-things and atom smashers and other high-physic stuff.
