PC gamepad suggestions
« on: May 25, 2013, 02:54:31 pm »

Mouse and keyboard isn't such a convenient setup when you're using a laptop computer.
I'm looking to get a gamepad for general PC gaming purposes. However, there are a lot of gamepads out there, and I don't think local stores stock them or I'd go grab the most average-looking one.
So, instead of doing research on my own, I thought I'd start by asking:

What PC gamepads do you recommend?
I have a bit of a preference for the Xbox controller setup over the PS3, but it's not critical.

Wow, that's actually in stock at Best Buy. Cool. I'll go there today or tomorrow unless anyone else has suggestions. Thank you.

I got a USB adaptor for a playstation controller, and it works great.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I did the same, but if you don't have the controller already, might as well pick one you like that's compatible. I did, for a while, try the bargain bin ones for cheap-cheap. They're mostly crap, read some reviews first, if you can find any.

So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I have some worn-out Xbox 360 controllers, but I don't feel like buying the PC connector when I could get a brand-new controller for the same price.

I just bought a wired 360 controller; meant I didn't have to buy batteries if I wanted to play my 360, and I could just plug it straight in to my computer (after installing the CD of drivers it came with, anyway)

I can't use wired Xbox controllers because I only have one working USB port on my Xbox, which is being used for the wireless connector.

I've tested out the F310 and it's working pretty well. Thanks for the suggestions; I guess this is over now. Leaving it unlocked in case of.

Don't mean to sound snarky. I use a wired Xbox controller for PC games and ROMs myself. Great controller.

It's a more expensive controller, so there's not much point in getting it if I can't also use it on my Xbox. The dual purpose would justify the extra cost. Not that it's an issue anymore, 'cause I already have a gamepad purchased.
