Replacement fan for my laptop

My laptop fan is no longer cooling my laptop very well and I think I should replace it.  I was wondering though if laptop fans are something that you upgrade or if I should get one of the same model as the original.  Anyone care to fill me in?

I have the same problem and my video game habits could potentially benefit greatly from any answers.

Even if some are replaceable, it'll probably depend on model. Some laptops are infamously difficult to replace parts in, from what I've heard.

I'm considering that.  I previously didn't have a screwdriver small enough to disassemble the fan.  I just got one and there was enough lint in there to make a little ball about the size of a dime.

I believe what he meant to say was "no, disassembling laptops and replacing core components yourself is difficult at best, impossible at worst."

no as in you can't upgrade a fan, laptop fans nowadays are attached to a large system called a thermal module, you could rarely swap out the fan for a better one.
