Surprisingly enough, a lot of people in rural areas without strong financial backgrounds also have rather complex world-views--just with complexity in areas you might not expect or consider important.

(. . . You're talking about my family, dood >_<)

What keeps me motivated? Simple and blunt:

If I dont do the shit that needs to get done, then it doesnt get done. This usually means either personal or professional problems. So, getting shit done to prevent issues is a very good idea. Bingo, all the motivation I need - keep people happy, get paid. End of.

Calm down. Sigulbard was talking about rular areas. For example, Windsor Castle, if you live in England.

I mean, check it out... The Queen has been on the public dole since her frigging birth, and thinks everything in the world is simply an event where she just smiles blandly and waves at various rabble.

That's sad. Being born into such a gilded cage should inspire the rest of us to go out and make our own destinities.

What keeps you motivated? I have no idea how to give a proper answer to this. When I'm getting things done, it's usually because I find it fun or because I'm scared of taking an exam without studying. So my motivations are fun and fear. Also, sometimes I have a feeling of emptiness and laziness sometimes. It's like a voice in my mind that's shouting "Lift your motherfuckin' fat ass and get something done, yo. You lazy useless piece of SHIT!". Man, I have never imagined my mind with an African American accent before.

But that kind of thing goes for pretty much everyone else. We do shit when we feel like doing it.

Yeah, I guess nothing motivates me too other than enjoyment. Still, motivation shouldn't be really different from achieving happiness anyway. Making money shouldn't be a motivation for me because it may interfere with the quality of my work. This mostly goes for creative jobs like painting and writing but even if you are doing manual labor, you shouldn't only think about your paycheck. Money makes us happy, yes, but you can be happy without being wealthy.

Hmmm...this is the universal question isn't it?

You first just have to realize that life is full of pain and bullshit. Somehow learn to love it!

Also if you are in a crappy job situation that you expect to pan out eventually, well, lemme know what it is. Many of those jobs that promise you a future are complete and total bullshit. I'm an attorney, I've seen it happen over and over. Promises of a bright future at a law firm keep you going while you bust your ass 24/7 until your youth starts to fade early, you are drinking when you aren't working, and you don't even remember the last time you banged your girlfriend.

If it's one of those jobs, find another. Those ones don't get better. Ever. The promises just keep you slaving away.

As for your BF, if your relationship is not one of those where you can say "Hey dude do you want to get married someday or are we just fucking?" then you probably shouldn't worry about it. If you can't say that then it's just a boyfriend. A starter relationship. You might get married if you get pregnant, or you might grow into each other. For your next relationship, if you want something serious, don't date a guy in his 20's.

That's all I got. I tried to blunt.
