Share your computer and/or desktop thread!

Bay12ers, what are your rigs and how often do you pull your hair out because of them? More importantly, how well do they run Dwarf Fortress? :P

Right now I have an Acer Aspire One 10.1" netbook. I used to hate this stupid thing, when it had Win7 on it. It would lag if I let it sit for a minute then tried to do something. I had to wait about 5 minutes after boot while it "warmed up" before I could do anything, lest I risk a crash. I dreaded opening Microsoft Word, which I swear has a wait period built-in to the loading screen. I never used my webcam since I had to re-install the driver every other week.

It's much better now that I'm running Ubuntu on it. There's a few programs that just won't work despite many Windows compatibility programs, but I'm just glad I can start using it immediately after logging in. There were some problems getting it set up just the way I like it, but it was worth it. This is the first time I've used Linux, and it's like using a computer for the first time all over.

Dwarf Fortress runs as well as it can on a netbook, I guess. I don't really play fort mode, but it seems to lag the most in really big cities as an adventurer. Keeps are the best places to grab companions so I definitely have a bit of trouble starting out, but otherwise it runs pretty good.

Great wallpaper. I've found that since one of my friends convinced me to get a tumblr, my background changes about every other day.

Doesn't fit the screen, but I like it with a black border.

To put it simply, Dwarf Fortress is the Black Metal of video games.

I figured this thread would be for talking about the computers we have too, since I haven't seen a thread like that on here.

Eh, there's a pretty substantial degree of overlap, and there have already been quite a few tangents about OSes (and possibly specs, but I CBA to search back to check) in the desktop thread.

I have three, of which two are no longer mine (parents commandeered them... :/)

First one:
My ancient Windows XP - HP T124a
2.53Ghz Intel Pentium 4 processor (single core)
256MB DDRAM
55GB HDD
64MB Intel Mobile Something or Other
Not in use anymore.

Second one:
Windows Vista - Toshiba Satellite A300D
2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (dual core)
4GB RAM
250GB HDD
128MB Intel Mobile Something or Other
Using the XP's replacement monitor as its LCD is borked.

Current one:
Windows 7 Home Premium - Toshiba Satellite L950
2.0Ghz AMD Vision A8 (clocks up to 2.8 when required, quad core)
8GB RAM
750GB hDD
1GB ATI Radeon HD 7640M
Is all around awesome.
