Why won't my dwarves pick up new clothes?

A sudden rush of tantrums came from many dwarves complaining about wearing tattered and old clothing. There is no economy -yet- and i have a huge stockpile of finished goods. Why won't any of my dwarves go and get new clothes?

I had the same problem post-economy (I got the bookkeeper before the original clothes wore out).

My thread is here. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any answers or advice yet.

I wonder if the problem is that the clothes are in the stockpile?  I've never had problems with dwarves getting new clothes, and I've never had large clothes stockpiles.

I have the problem with some clothes in stockpiles, some in the workshop, and some in shops.
