recent drawings

Some recent drawings.

"To Battle" - a pen and ink drawing of a battle field scene in DF.  This was received pretty well in reddit's DF area.

EDIT:  WARNING - This image has violence/gore expected of DF battle scenes :)

"Steampunk DF" - a strange take on DF, a futuristic DF with steampunk style where the dwarves have evolved into some light technology with trains and flying machines.  This drawing was very controversial or otherwise just disliked by all of DF, steampunk, and Illustration subreddits  :)  I just couldn't win on this one.  If you know why or have any comments yourself please feel free.  One person did say "I think it's getting downvoted because trains don't work like that".

Along with my previous sketches the full album is building here:

More coming sooner than later.

Pretty nice, man!

I did have a look at all the drawings before reading your comments, and yeah, the first thing that popped into my mind with that steam-punk pic was the train being a bit odd. I think it's the little gears for wheels. I can't help but picture the teeth on those gears getting sheered off if the train tried to pull a large and heavy load. But I think the reason it's not as well received is because it's more of a character portrait or a concept art piece. As in, there's really not much going on. Compare it to the awesome battle scene, and there's really no contest.

Anyways... Looking forward to seeing some more! :)

Thanks for the great feedback!  I think you are right about that.  I am trying to build up my portfolio now and something I had in my notes for the next series of drawings is "action! action! action!".  The steampunk drawing is just a bit lame I guess.  My goal was actually just to draw something a lot more technical then I usually do because that's what my portfolio is lacking, so I guess I focused on that too much and sucked the life out of it  :o.

The crappy thing about reddit, too often, is that people just downvote without saying anything.  God do I miss forums!  I will be here more.
