Uh, so I generated a new world.
I set it to
- medium size
- medium (250 years) history
- very high number of civilizations
- very high number of sites
- very high number of beasts
- high savagery
- sparse minerals
...what turned out (after over 60 or so rejections) is a world still in Age of Myth with thriving undead-raising industry (there is even place with 3 necromancer towers in neighborhood, though there are many undead-free areas, too) and quite a few evil embark opportunities but that's not the best.
The BEST are the dwarven civilizations. There are six total.
Ustanid, "The Blameless Rock"
vampire king Unib Strifefulgilt - 2055 kills, over 900 humans, 500 dwarves, almost 500 goblins and (!) 23 elves
general Kadol Glazesensed - obsessed with own mortality, journeyed to the depths of world taming beasts
Meng Seng, "The Lashes of Ringing" (found by dwarf necromancer queen)
king Zuglar Basementsuns - in 224 he became member of Cult of Drink
general Fikod Thinroom - journeyed to the depths of world taming beasts; in 231 he became member of the Cult of Drink
Ultėrerib, "The Common Gorge"
king Zon Rockstempted - has cool name
goblin general Kol Bridgedprestige - but otherwise normal
Zuglar Râluk, "The Ships of Hailing" (found by two necromancers - general and king)
king Urdim Rockpowers - another dwarfy name
general Momuz Hametributes - obsessed with own mortality, journeyed to the depths of the world, tamed rutherers among other beasts
Lòr Zithis, "The Tools of Mesh" (necromancer general among founders)
goblin king Rith Entrancelabour - the goody two-shoes, I imagine this one as someone who has worked hard to be recognized by the dwarves, so the surname is fitting; one of first of his kind, former farmer and fisherman, worships dwarven goddess Kethil Cherishedtruths the Good of Kindness - deity associated with truth, has 7 kills - 3 trolls and 4 goblins - heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he scored those while protecting batch of puppies... or at least baby GCS
general Id Empiresabre - obsessed with own mortality, journeyed to the depths of the world taming giant monsters, seems like favourite past time activity of most generals
Erib Okil, "The Gorge of Testing" (founding queen was a necromancer, founding general became a were-elephant later on)
vampire king Thob Idėrith, "Thob Rocklabor" - king for last 219 years; 7304 kills - over 2800 dwarves, over 2600 humans and precisely 1600 goblins; grandson of founding necromancer queen (who is still alive), parents normal dwarves but he has vampire daughter - she hasn't been heard of for 50 years and has over 2000 kills herself... did I mention the king has a cool name?
general Urist Sternlance - cool name, 5 years in service so didn't have time to become obsessed with his mortality or to journey anywhere, yet
So I imagine quite a few of you have seen something similar but I am taken aback and can't decide which civilization to pick. In these mostly necromancer-found civilizations, majority of nobility seems to be composed of murderous psychopaths, goblins, members of cults which seem to have something to do with alcoholic beverages (or
worse) and frequent visitors to the depths of the world seeking means to prolong their lives. It's amazing!
