A good forum for sharing art for sale?
« on: March 11, 2013, 08:53:49 pm »

Well, just lately I've begun listing my mother's art for her on Etsy (yeah, I'll toss a link to the shop up here, why not). I have a ton of paintings to add, she really enjoys painting wildlife and natural scenery, and not being a very computer-oriented person herself, this is a good way for us to share some time even though we're located far apart.

However, it has occurred to me that just throwing some paintings up in an Etsy shop might not generate the kind of exposure necessary for her to get many sales. She's had some luck offline, but she's located in a small town, so there aren't a lot of places for her to showcase her work. I know it's not really good etiquette to go around posting advertisements for something in communities you're new to (even if it is for your mom), but does anyone know of any forums/communities/somewhere where I could go to share some of this stuff without being annoying? Part of the difficulty is that since I'm not the one who painted them, I can't really go and expound upon the artistic qualities or technique or whatever.  :-X

Anyway, any advice is appreciated. As usual, thanks B12.

I can't really help, but just wanted to say that your mum is a pretty damn good artist dude.

Thanks very much.  :D Needless to say I'm very proud of her, her art's been improving greatly over the past few years as she's had more time to devote to it. She's not in a very good place financially so I'm really hoping that once the shop is filled out it can help her to become a bit more stable, and maybe eventually have something productive and enjoyable to do for a living when she's no longer able to do physical labor.

Well, I guess it's worth mentioning that I've uploaded a bunch of new stuff for her, though there's more work to be done yet. :) If you're interested, please swing by. http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheRoyalGriffin
