He is asking whether it is a long piece of wood or a short one.

Oh, well. It's, erm, it's more comparable to a wand than a staff, but it's perfectly adequate for my purposes. The only reason you'd need a bigger one is if you needed to hit something at long range or shoot off a very powerful load.

And it's not made of wood, btw. It's a hollow tube made of various arcane metals attached to a handle.

Could you fire through ancient spaceship walls with your cartridge-loaded wand?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

So it's more of a peashooter?

This talk of staffs and wands brings up the discussion of how humans control magic.

It is my personal belief (in my stories at least) that magic manifests within humans naturally.  However, some people have it, some people don't. Consider it a well of crude oil beneath the surface. Sometimes it can be really really powerful and other times it can be just a spark, but just because you are really strong doesn't mean you're good with magic. It's like being very smart but not having good concentration. Wands and staffs could be a way of concentrating magic into an item as a crutch for these sort of mages, but it has the disadvantage of meaning you are practically helpless without it.
