 My mason keeps on standing on the wall while he is building it, leading him to suspend it because "there is a creature on the tile". Unsuspended it, did same thing. Is there a way to make him NOT stand on the tile? Has anybody else had this problem or is my dwarf just especially stupid?

remove construction re-designate the section of wall and hopefully he'll stop standing where he's building... yes it's a common complaint that's got several work-rounds.

I've noticed that if there is a ramp ajacent to the building site, the mason acts stupid.  Removing the ramps prior to designating the build seems to prevent this behaviour.

 Thanks for the responses. For some reason I didn't notice that board before. In my mind it was, "I'm playing in fortress mode, so its probably in dwarf fortress dwarf mode discussion". Oh well. I'll try those things out.

Happened to me too. Turned out the block that was assigned to the construction task was, for some reason, in the same spot as the construction to be built. So the dwarf goes to the tile where the block is to pick it up and, being on the same tile as the construction tries to build there but finds himself occupying the construction site.

Once I removed the construction designation, the block spawned on an adjacent tile, and designating the construction again went smoothly.
