How did you get 3x3 ice fields?  Dryice landmine?
At least in the arena, the spells I posted don't seem to freeze spawned water.

Just put a frost giant in water, that should do it. all tiles besides it freeze, if I am not mistaken. It has been a year since I last fiddled with temperature and ice. ^^ Ice landmines should be able to do this as well.

Confirmation: frost giants indeed freeze the tiles around them, creating 3x3 ice.

Hey, Ishar. You want to do another Succession Fort?  We already have Orcs and Kobolds running, just need someone for the good old dwarves ;)

Hmm.  I can't figure out what the mechanism is.  Do they have to be bleeding or does it always happen?  Their blood seems to be dry-ice, but their body temperature seems to be normal, and if their cold-breath attack is actually cold I can't figure out why :)  Will play with it more later.

edit.  Bleeding or not, I couldn't get a "Freezer" giant to freeze up the water around it in Arena.  is it possible that temperature works strangely in the arena?  *confused*

I assume you only ever see it in adv mode? ^^

yes

I seriously recommend you at the very least do adventure testing for some features in the arena, adventure mode gives much more detailed information on what effects things are having in general

I tried. At some point I realized that you can control creatures in the arena. Then I pressed random buttons for 10 minutes before going away, doing something else. I guess I should just read the wiki about it.

Well, lets see where this goes... my todolist for now is Skaven+Warpstone, some kind of Tech-Gnomes as tradepartners and glass. ^^

On a related note, there should be a way to keep a creature from dying when encased in ice. Otherwise this thing's most common cause of death will be 'tried to use ice spell on lamprey'.
