Path blocked / action canceled from dwarf prisoners ?
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:18:31 am »

Well, I discovered today that the jail/justice system started to work, intensly.

However, I'm getting cancellation spam & path blocked from imprisoned dwarfes  that would like to work.
And are also dying of thrist/starvation even if I have 100 dwarfes around with feed patient/prisoner turned on.

What can I do ?

if you went the smart way you made chains instead of cages as "prison". That way you can put a food and a drink stockpile (2 seperate, not 1 food&drink) next to the chain and have them filled from the main supply, plus even a bed. That way you don't have to wait for your dwarfs to go and do the feeding etc and your prisoners have a better survival chance. The bed makes them be of a decent mood during their stay. Once they get released they get a huge happiness boost anyway

edit:
feeding prisoners seems to come somewhere below feeding people in the hospital, which is already less popular as a job than deep nasal excavation (idle)

the cancelation could be a mother looking for a child (or something)

Thank you very much.

Yes, I did chains, plus a few cages i'll remove now.

I also have some problems cleaning built cages, from corpses. Is it possible ? Or I have to put it back to stockpile ?

Also from some kind of bug, a few cages (2 ruby and 1 silver cage) is not "usable for justice", I already checked if it's forbidden or flagged for melt, but it's not.

you can get corpses out just like other items such as from a (still living) goblin. dump them either by dumping through designations and undumping the cage or by looking into the cage (t I think to look into items in a built sctructure) and setting dump instructions there

Yes, but this look into (k) thing works if the cage is in a stockpile, it's not working for built cages. Is this a bug ?

How Lida Cleans Cages and Strips Enemy Prisoners
1. Pause game and ensure you have a "dump" site.
2. Press d -> b -> c ("c" is optional, but was included to make it idiot proof)
3. Point to the cage, and press "Enter" twice.
4. Press d and the press "Enter" twice
5. "esc"ape to main screen.
6a. For "built" cages, press t -> d to remove the "dump" tag from the cage and any mechanisms attached.
6b. For stockpiled cages, press k -> d to remove the "dump" tag from the cage.
7. Rinse and repeat for any other cages.
8. Unpause the game and watch everyone get busy.
