What are your expectations for the complexity of the new additions being added, and what do you personally expect from the upcoming release?

I'm doing to expand the Dragon Ball Z mod to include ridiculous amounts of martial arts moves. I'm going to make a minor mod (for once in my life) that adds a new race that uses no weapons, instead using a bunch of video game martial arts because that'd be fun. Trees are going to be cool. Fruits are going to be real cool (Sword trees?! Hell yeah! Bomb flowers for the Zelda mod? FUCK YEAH!)

ADVENTURE MODE SHENANIGANS JUST GOT SHENANIGNAINIER.

In all seriousness I'll be interested in how climbing affects Fortress mode, if at all. And trees! Ah the trees! Sneaking that's not broken! Moving armies?! Oh yes, glorious as a dwarf fortress built from world gen.

With the new sneak mechanics, I'll be stakling aound various towns, fortesses and tree towns, killing whatever I can without raising suspicion. Yea, I always loved stealth gameplay.

As for fort mode, I dunno really. This development cycle currently seems mostly focused around world and adventurer rather than actual player interaction / effects in fortress.

I'm mostly looking forward to the tree / flower changes, succession and improvements to combat.  I play fort mode exclusively, so improvements to adventurer mode don't really affect me too much.

All in all, I don't expect the adjustment period to be too harsh.  Mostly learning to chop wood properly and how to approach combat now that the new changes are in.  How nonlethal combat will affect fort mode I'm not sure, but the move / attack split should have some larger implications.  Heavy armor won't be such a handicap anymore, presumably.

Could someone explain to me when the new update is expected and what it's been confirmed to contain? I'm always confused about the update notes and forum posts.

sorry guy but the date they might be realeased is unknow, and even if tarn or zach said one it probably would take longer than they said, it's hard to program, at the first moment it's just a ping pong game with the easier code ever, the second we want to suicide, and then we start all again with a new code just to try again a hundred times, we never have certain, it's just some speculation.Someday it will work anyway...
